Those Who Will Dwell on High

Those Who Will Dwell on High

“He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; bread will be given him, His water will be sure.” Isaiah 33:16 (NKJV)

In life, there are those who live in fear and uncertainty, while others find security and success by dwelling in spiritual heights. The difference between them is not in their circumstances but in how they choose to live. Isaiah presents two groups: those who tremble in fear because they lack God, and those who, through living a just and honest life, will dwell on high, protected and blessed by the Lord.

  1. The fear of those without God:
Isaiah 33:14 shows us that sinners tremble in terror because they don’t have God. Those who live far from Him face constant fear and uncertainty. They live in constant dread because they know they cannot withstand the judgment or the consequences of a life without God.
  2. Those who will dwell on high:
In contrast, Isaiah 33:15 describes those who will live in safety. These are honest and just people who reject fraud, avoid bribes, and refuse to listen to or participate in evil. They choose to live according to God’s principles, and as a result, they will dwell on high, a place of strength and protection.
  3. Rewards for the faithful:
God promises that the righteous will dwell in a secure place, like the heights of a mountain. They will have everything they need: strength, provision of food, and abundant water. These rewards are not only material but also spiritual, offering peace and security in God.

Think about it:

  1. How can you ensure that you are living a life that pleases God, dwelling in spiritual heights?
  2. What temptations must you avoid to keep from falling into fear and insecurity?
  3. How can you live with honesty and justice in your daily life to receive God’s blessings and protection?
