Back Home
God is a loving Father who is always willing to welcome us back, no matter how far we have strayed. This passage, though originally referring to the people of Israel, has a powerful application for our times: God continues to draw people back to His house, His presence, and His spiritual family.
Three aspects of coming back home:
- They shall come from Egypt.
- “Like a flock of birds, they will come from Egypt…” (Hosea 11:11, NLT)
- Egypt represents the world without God—a place of spiritual slavery and emptiness. Many people in our city are living without knowing Christ, but God is at work, drawing them to Himself. Soon we will see them return, seeking hope and restoration.
- They shall return trembling.
- “… like doves, they will return from Assyria..” (Hosea 11:11, NLT)
- Often, people seek God amid their fears and suffering. In their pain, they find a safe refuge in the Lord. Although they come trembling, they discover the peace and strength they desperately need in Him.
- Back to their home.
- “And I will bring them home again,”says the Lord… (Hosea 11:11, NLT)
- God’s house is where souls find restoration, spiritual success, and community. It is where people discover their purpose and experience growth in every area of their lives—spiritual, familial, social, and financial.
God is drawing multitudes back to His house. Our mission as a church is to be ready to receive them with love, guide them in their walk with Christ, and reflect His grace.
Think About It:
- What can you do to be someone who welcomes those returning to God?
- How can you help people find a safe refuge in your church?
- Take time this week to pray for the souls God is bringing back home.
