Comfort

Comfort

“Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” Says your God. “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” Isaiah 40:1-2 (NKJV)

We live in times when people are burdened with pain, guilt, and sorrow. Many need words of encouragement and hope to remind them that God is a loving and merciful Father. Often, they face condemnation instead of grace, neglect instead of comfort. However, God calls us to be instruments of His peace, bringing comfort and tenderness to a wounded world.
Four Things I Must Do:

  1. Comfort, yes, comfort My people.
God invites us to be bearers of His comfort. This means being willing to listen, encourage, and uplift others with our words and actions. The repetition of “comfort” emphasizes the urgency of this mission.
  2. Speak comfort.
The words we offer must be filled with love and compassion. Speaking comfort is not just about being kind; it also reflects God’s character, treating people with dignity and respect, and reminding them that they are precious to Him.
  3. Cry out that her warfare is ended.
There is hope in Christ. Our mission is to proclaim that pain is not eternal and that God can transform tears into joy. This truth brings relief and renews the heart.
  4. Cry out that her iniquity is pardoned.
One of humanity’s greatest needs is the assurance that the past does not define the future. By sharing the message of forgiveness, we bring freedom to others, helping them understand that in Christ, there is grace, restoration, and a new beginning.

Think About It:

  • Is there someone in your life who needs comfort and tenderness this week?
  • How can you reflect God’s character in your words and actions?
  • Take a practical step: identify one person and share with them a message of hope and love.
