I remember that once during an occasion I saw some people approaching a place on their knees. This was a scene that caught my attention. Their knees were bleeding, their faces revealed the pain they were experiencing, their eyes were watery, and they seemed to show pity. I think these people were trying to get closer to God, because they were striving to please Him with their sacrifice and pain.
However, in this portion of the Bible God expresses that there is something more important than beating our backs with a whip, than proceeding a place on our knees, than sacrificing animals and than giving great offerings of money. There are three things in this verse that God considers more valuable than anything else and that He asks of us every day: justice, mercy and humility.
1. Justice.
This talks about doing what is right in everything we do. We have to be honest with our business, at our job and in our company. This also refers to treating others justly without being a respecter of persons, and while not discriminating others because of their social position, level of education, or skin color. So, how are we treating people? Are we doing clean business?
Remember to never sell your character or integrity under any circumstances, especially because of an injustice. Your character and honesty are more valuable than any sacrifice you can offer to God.
The Bible says:
Think about it:
How are you practicing justice in your daily walk?
What is God asking of you? What do you need to adjust in your life in order to become a person of integrity and character?
