Returning home

RETURNING HOME

“Then all the people returned to their homes, and David turned and went home to bless his own family” (1 Chronicles 16:43 NLT).

There is a great need in our modern society to return home and give prominence to our family.

Materialism and our fast-paced lifestyle has distanced us from our families and it has stolen our opportunity to enjoy, laugh and spend time with them. Nowadays, both individuals in a marriage work, and sometimes they work different shifts throughout the day; and most of the time they rarely see each other until they’re both tired. They do not have enough strength to spend quality time with their children, thus they lack communication.

There is a saying that goes like this, “you’re a lamp in the streets, but darkness in the house”. People run, endeavor and work over-time to meet their social commitments and to reach some materialistic and temporary achievements. However, it is time to return home and be a blessing to our family.

These are the following key points to help you return home and give prominence to your family:

1. Remember to prioritize correctly.
God.
Family.
Work and ministry.

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good” (Psalm 127:1 NLT).

2. Do not say yes to everything.
You do not have time to do everything, you only have time to do that which God called you to do on earth. Discover the purpose as to why you were born and devote yourself to that. Do not do anything that will divert you from your purpose.

Then all the people returned to their homes, and David turned and went home to bless his own family” (1 Chronicles 16:43 NLT).

Think about it:

What things have you said yes to before saying yes to your family?
What do your priorities look like? What steps do you need to take to prioritize correctly?
