The temptations of trusting “Egypt”

THE TEMPTATIONS OF TRUSTING “EGYPT”

“Then Israel will no longer be tempted to trust in Egypt for help. Egypt’s shattered condition will remind Israel of how sinful she was to trust Egypt in earlier days. Then Israel will know that I am the Sovereign Lord” (Ezekiel 29:16 NLT).

Egypt represents the world without God. Putting your trust in Egypt symbolizes how people sometimes put their trust in common systems of the world such as the stock market and the growth of their investments.

This example illustrates how many times people value power, fame, houses, wealth, and materialism above the spiritual and moral values found in God’s Word.

This is why people feel empty and hopeless, since their investments might grow one month, but all of a sudden drop the next month.

This is why God says: I will destroy these material things so that your trust is no longer in them but in me.

Do not put your trust in something or someone that can be taken from you or that you can lose.
The world cannot secure the peace, provision and safety that the Lord offers. God is the primary source, the autor and consumer of your faith. Trust in Him above all things.

“Then Israel will no longer be tempted to trust in Egypt for help. Egypt’s shattered condition will remind Israel of how sinful she was to trust Egypt in earlier days. Then Israel will know that I am the Sovereign Lord” (Ezekiel 29:16 NLT).

Think about it:

Where are you putting your trust?
If you were to evalute your life, who or what would you say you are you truly depending on?
