They are not dead, they’re asleep

THEY ARE NOT DEAD, THEY’RE ASLEEP

“When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.  He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”)” (Mark 5:38-41 NIV).

It’s easy to let a dream die, but it requires faith to keep the dream alive until it is fulfilled.

The little girl in this passage represents the father’s dream, a dream that had died. However, when he heard that the Lord Jesus was near, he didn’t hesitate to find him and ask him to go to his house and save his daughter.

When he received the bad news, and was told there was no point in Jesus going to his house, since his daughter had died, Jairus did not give up, he did not lose his faith; instead he continued his way with the Lord until they made it to his house.

There are dreams you have let die, but God doesn’t want them to die. God says your dreams are not dead but asleep.

This passage says that the people laughed when the Lord Jesus told them that the little girl was asleep. Despite this, Jesus still entered the house and commanded the girl to get up.

If you have renounced your dreams because the people around you think they’re too big and mock you, that has been your decision, not God’s. You chose to be fearful, not to advance, and declare your dreams dead; but today I tell you they are not dead. If you let Jesus Christ enter your dreams, your heart’s desires, and your prayers, you will see they are not dead, they’re just asleep.

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:3 NIV).

The Word of God says that He will come at the appointed time to fulfill all your dreams and answer your prayers. All you have to do is take steps of faith and continue to believe and wait on the Lord.

Just as Jairus didn’t quit, but continued walking with Jesus toward his house, you too, don’t worry about what the circumstances look like in your house; if Jesus Christ is with you, your family, your marriage, your dreams and everything else will be okay.
