THIS IS HOW THE RESENTED DIE
When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb. (2 Samuel 17:23 NIV)
Ahithophel was offended because his opinions and advice were not followed.
Let’s not be too sensitive nor get offended when our opinion or way of thinking is rejected or not valued.
Let’s be mature, those who are resentful will end up choking their friends, the peace at home and God’s dreams for their life.
There are also people who are like Absalom and who die hung.
Now Absalom… was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom’s hair got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going. (2 Samuel 18:9)
Who is an “Absalom” person?
It is someone who does not have faithfulness or loyalty; a person that is easily resented. An individual that easily betrays others in marriage, in church, at work or their friends.
Those who are “Absaloms” will always be left hung between heaven and earth. This means that these people do not achieve success on earth nor reach the blessings from heaven.
Let’s be people who develop the virtues of faithfulness and loyalty to have success in our spiritual, family, social and financial life; and so we are not resented towards life and those who surround us.
Think about it:
- What is your reaction when your opinion or idea is not taken into consideration? Do you accept it and continue being a part of the team or do you leave?
- Today, am I resented because of someone who did not value me yesterday?
