Sin, rebellion, and anger

SIN, REBELLION, AND ANGER

“For you have added rebellion to your sin; you show no respect, and you speak many angry words against God” (Job 34:37 NLT).

The following three words catch my attention: “sin”, “rebellion”, and “anger”.

1. SIN.
A lot of the times, people get into problems when they sin, and they suffer the consequences of their sin. Nobody told them to commit adultery and to sleep with their neighbor’s wife, nobody forced them to do drugs and drink alcohol so that they would end up incarcerated for drunk driving. Everyone is responsible for their own choices. Sin is a decision, not a temptation that you “couldn’t” dominate.

2. REBELLION.
When people suffer, because they are experiencing the consequences of their sin, they rebel against God and society. They make things worst with their attitude, they blame the church because they don’t help them, they blame God and stop attending church.

3. ANGER.
Someone who has rebellion in their heart tends to have anger in their heart. Some internalize their rage, others ventilate it by fighting with others and sinking into alcohol. They rebel against society and begin to engage in nonsense because they are angry at the world and even angry at God.

We need to break the cycle of sin, rebellion, and anger. This cycle has led us to fail in society and in the world in general. Let’s not repeat the same mistakes our ancestors made, instead let’s break with this toxic cycle in order to better our families, marriage, and ourselves.

“For you have added rebellion to your sin; you show no respect, and you speak many angry words against God” (Job 34:37 NLT).

Think about it:

What cycle do you need to close in your life?
How can you vent your anger in a healthy way?
