Confess as a lifestyle

CONFESS AS A LIFESTYLE

“If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer” (Psalm 66:18-19 NLT).  It is necessary to keep a lifestyle of confession in order to have a life of continual success.

When I speak about a lifestyle of confession, I am not talking about committing the same sin and then confessing it every day, instead I am referring to the fact that in life we will frequently get contaminated. Just as our feet get dirty when we walk every day, our hearts get dirty on our daily journey. This is why we must clean our hearts continuously, and one of the ways we can do this is through confession.

We need to take a little time out of our day to evaluate our hearts and make sure to confess and wipe out all the attitudes that can negatively affect our hearts.

Let’s confess and keep our hearts from storing resentment, anger, rage, chronic sadness, vulgar thoughts, envy, jealousy, conflict, lust, excuses to intake alcohol or drugs, vengeance, curse words, and other similar things that contaminate our hearts and stop us from inheriting the Kingdom of God.

We must confess in order to remain clean. God already knows what we have done, but confession benefits us. Confession is not meant to condemn us, but to help us forgive and love ourselves.

“If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer” (Psalm 66:18-19 NLT).

Think about it:

What do you need to confess to God?
Why is it important to evaluate the state of your heart?
