You grow when you belong to God’s family

YOU GROW WHEN YOU BELONG TO GOD’S FAMILY

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? (Philippians 2:1 NLT)

Nobody can grow without first belonging to a family. You cannot mature if you are a lone ranger or if you are not part of God’s family.

If you want to grow spiritually you must remember that a newborn cannot survive if it is alone or abandoned in a parking lot.

A baby will not grow if he or she does not belong to a family that will care for them, such as: feeding them, educating them and helping them mature mentally and emotionally until they are able to take care of themselves.

Spiritual babies also need help from God’s family (church) to survive, grow, mature and be productive in life. The Bible calls them disciples.

You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family (Ephesians 2:19 NLT).

In church we help one another mature in our faith. This is where we go from spiritual children to mature people who learn to apply their faith in their daily lives, marriage and at school.

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? …Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose (Philippians 2:1-2 NLT).

At church we are all someone’s disciple and we are all someone’s mentor. If you truly desire to grow, first accept the Lord Jesus in your heart, get baptized then get involved in the spiritual nourishment your church (your family) offers such as, discipleships and Houses of Peace.

When we are part of God’s family we are able to grow healthy.

Think about it:

  • What are the benefits of belonging to a family?
  • Is the church a family for you? How can you take ownership of the benefits of belonging to God’s family?
