The cost of distractions

THE COST OF DISTRACTIONS

“So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:16 NIV).

Many times, we don’t realize we are being distracted, thus, we forfeit a lot in life such as our time, years, money, strength, and sometimes our losses are more severe. Some people lose their family, marriage, or their relationship with their children.

The cost of distractions is high. Our time on earth is far too short and valuable to forfeit it on things or situations that are not worth it. When you lose your focus, you become a wanderer who doesn’t know where they’re heading. You were not born to exist, you were born to fulfill your divine purpose.

Distractions delay your progress. Perhaps, you should be at another stage of your life, but because you haven’t been able to discern the distractions, you are now paying the cost. Maybe, you have set a goal like starting a business, graduating college, losing weight, paying off your debts, or opening a House of Peace; however, you still haven’t made them happen.

You cannot bear fruit in your spiritual, family, social, or financial life. You cannot meet your goals because you lack discipline. You lack commitment; thus, God cannot count on you because you are lukewarm. There are words of prophecy that still have not come to pass because you lack obedience.

The key to discerning distractions is in turningyou heart to your Creator, to your original purpose. While we are walking through life, we experience a bunch of things. We are influenced to think that our purpose is to accomplish a career, to fill in a certain position, or to make a personal dream come true, but your purpose can only be discovered in God.

Today, before you continue with the next task on your agenda, clarify your purpose in prayer and as you read your Bible. Remember that everything we do is to benefit God and people. Once your purpose is defined, and you’re no longer lukewarm, then you will be unstoppable and blessed.

“So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:16 NIV).

Think about it:

Are hot, cold, or lukewarm in your purpose?
What do you need to do to intensify your focus on God and people—your purpose?
