GOD’S PROPOSAL VS MAN’S IDEAS
…And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal. (Genesis 16:2 NLT).
What wrong choices have you made as a result of being influenced by other people and not asking God for direction? God’s proposals are better than man’s. But these proposals are discovered through prayer.
So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal. (Genesis 16:2 NLT).
There were grave consequences that everyone involved suffered. Abraham accepted his wife’s proposal when God already had a better one. (Genesis 17:1-19).
God’s idea was to give his wife Sarai a son, and not Hagar who was Sarai’s servant.
The importance of prayer:
It is in prayer where we are able to hear God’s proposals.
You may be able to laugh around for a little while by joking around with friends, but in intimacy with God you will receive God’s proposals for your life that will make you have true success.
We can set apart time to speak to people or we can make time to speak with God when we are looking for life directions.
The people with who you spend the most time will heavily influence your decisions, because our relationships form the way we see society.
Because of this, it is important to make time to pray and read the Bible. This will help us see life from God’s perspective and make wise decisions based on God’s proposals and not mans.
…And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal. (Genesis 16:2 NLT).
Think about it:
When it comes to making decisions, do you first consult God or your friends?
What important decisions or plans do you need to bring up in prayer to God?
What proposal is God making to you this year? Have you heard him out?
