3 THINGS THAT HAPPEN IN A SMALL GROUP

Jesus set the example about the importance of Houses of Peace and discipleships.

Coming out of the synagogue (temple) they came to Simon and Andrew’s house with James and John.
29 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them. Mark 1:29-31

1. Friendship

Jesus did not only fellowship at the temple, but with great pleasure he went to his friend Peter’s house when he was in need.
Having friends is important because we were not made to live isolated. We were created to live in relationship with others.

2. Mutual Help.

When we can count on a group of close friends, it is easier to overcome the crises in life.
Someone told Jesus that Peter’s mother-in-law was sick and he immediately told them to take him to her so he could heal her.

30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up… Mark 1:30-31

Peter no longer had to spend money on doctors nor medicine, because everyone helped so Jesus could heal her.

3. Gratitude and Service.

The mother-in-law was very grateful with everyone because they came to her house and visited her when she was sick.

In return she began to serve not only Jesus, but the people who were with Him in the House of Peace.
…The fever left her and she began to wait on them. Mark 1:31

It is healthy for us to belong to a House of Peace or a discipleship.

It is very healthy for us to serve Jesus by serving other people with gratitude.

Time to Reflect:

– Do you remember any close Friends that have supported you in times of need?
– How can being a part of a small group or House of Peace help you?
