I choose the same as Joshua

I CHOOSE THE SAME AS JOSHUA:
“MY HOUSE AND I SHALL SERVE THE LORD”

But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15 NLT)

WHILE JOSHUA LIVED:

  • The people served God while Joshua, the leader, lived.
The people of Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him—those who had personally experienced all that the Lord had done for Israel. (Joshua 24:31 NLT)
  • Joshua formed good disciples and his family served the Lord
…But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.  (Joshua 24:15 NLT)

 AFTER JOSHUA DIED

And the Israelites served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and the leaders who outlived him—those who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.
Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110. They buried him in the land he had been allocated, at Timnath-serah[a] in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. (Judges 2:7-10 NLT).

After Joshua died, it is sad to see the new generation didn’t know God.

That is why it is so important to prepare our children well and that we form disciples, so that they continue passing on God’s commandments to their future generations.

Think about it:

Will the generation after us serve God?
Are we preparing our children and disciples?
Are we forming firm disciples that will continue to serve God, even if we are no longer there as their leader?
Am I forming followers or leaders?
