Jealousy is a sign of immaturity

JEALOUSY IS A SIGN OF IMMATURITY

I had to talk as though… as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food …for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 NLT

Have you seen how a child sometimes fights or throws fits because they want another kid’s toy? They let go of their toy and they want the toy that is in the other child’s hands. Also, when someone asks them to share what they have, they close their hands and they pucker their face and say, “Nooo…it’s mine…”

In the same way, adults are compared to spiritual children when they are jealous of one another because of their immaturity.

1. Jealousy is a sign of spiritual immaturity.
“I had to talk as though… as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food …”

2. Jealousy shows that a person has emotional problems and immaturity.

3. Jealousy is a sin. It causes envy, wickedness in the heart and desires to do wrong unto those they envy. Due to jealousy, Satan rebelled against God and brought eternal consequences.

4. Jealousy harms your physical and emotional health. It steals your peace, causes you to lose good friends, it elevates your stress level, increases your insecurities and anxieties; and they will never allow you to feel happy or complete.

The solution is to mature in the love of Christ.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear… 1 John 4:18

Think about it

Have you ever felt jealous before? Why?
Are you willing to mature in your character and accept other people’s success including those of your enemies?
