The power of gratitude (Part II)

THE POWER OF GRATITUDE (PART II)

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT)

Yesterday we learned about some of the benefits that gratitude produces and brings to our lives, but also:

We honor God and as a result, He blesses us. When we are grateful with God, we are giving Him honor. In the same way, when we are grateful with someone else, we are honoring that person, showing them respect for what they have done and how significant they are in our lives.

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me (Psalm 50:23 NLT)

When we are grateful, God opens doors and gives us grace with others. It is like when we do something for someone else. If the person is ungrateful, we don’t want to do them any more favors. But if they show gratitude we will be able to help them again.

How can we show our gratitude to God?

  • Giving Him thanks for every morning, every meal, for a roof, clothes, health, our children, family, and for His daily provision.
  • We can show Him gratitude serving Him (opening our home to teach His Word), assisting church, reading the Bible, praying, etc.
  • We demonstrate gratitude to God when we obey Him, when we choose to please Him and stop doing our own will.

And each morning and evening they stood before the Lord to sing songs of thanks and praise to him. (1 Chronicles 23:30 NLT)

Think about it:

In what ways do you show your gratitude to God?
What blessings from God have you received because you were grateful?                                                                                                     In what area do you serve God out of gratitude?
