YOU GROW WHEN YOU BELONG TO GOD’S FAMILY

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ?… (Philippians 2:1 NLT)

You grow when you belong to God’s family.

No one grows without belonging to a family. You will not mature if you are a lone ranger, if you are not part of God’s family.

If you want to grow spiritually, you must remember that a newborn does not survive alone, abandoned in a parking lot.

A baby will not grow if it doesn’t belong to a family that cares for it, feeds, educates it and helps it mature mentally and emotionally until it can fend for itself.

In the same way, spiritual babies need the help of God’s family (the church) to survive, grow, mature, and be productive in life. The Bible calls this discipleship.

So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. (Ephesians 2:19 NLT)

It is in church where we help one another mature in faith, where we go from being spiritual children to mature people and learn to apply our faith into our daily lives, marriage, or school.

In church, we are all someone’s disciple and we are all mentors to someone. If you truly wish to grow, then you must first accept Jesus Christ in your heart, be baptized, and then join in to receive what the church (your family) offers such as discipleships and Houses of Peace.

In this way, we grow healthily together in God’s family.

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ?… Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. (Philippians 2:1 NLT)

Think about it:

Are you being discipled by someone?
Do you consider yourself to be a spiritual baby or mature Christian?
Are you part of a discipleship or House of Peace?
