Could something be bad if God doesn’t prohibit it?

COULD SOMETHING BE BAD IF GOD DOESN’T PROHIBIT IT?

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. (1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT)

Am I allowed to do anything? Why or why not, if God doesn’t prohibit it?

Sometimes we debate this question to justify a bad habit in ourselves. For example, not exercising, eating junk food, drinking alcohol, watching immoral movies, waste our money.
But, the most correct question to ask would be: “Is this beneficial to me?”

You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. (1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT)

God doesn’t say that it’s a sin to have a new car. On the contrary, it’s good! But, if you are a person that is full of debt and because of that there is tension in your home, and that doesn’t allow you to send your kids to college or tithe to God, then even if it’s allowed, it doesn’t benefit you.

There are certain relationships that are allowed, but don’t benefit you.

Remember that everything is allowed to you, but not everything benefits you. (1 Cor. 6:12 NLT)

Think about it:

What things are you doing that aren’t beneficial to you?
What relationships do you have that aren’t beneficial?
What bad habit do you justify because God doesn’t explicitly prohibit it?
