Leader or slave?

LEADER OR SLAVE?

This letter is from Simon. Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have… (2 Peter 1:1a NLT)

Peter even though the was an Apostle, considered himself first a slave. In reality he was an excellent leader but was humble.

1. A slave serves. I live to serve God through serving people. The true leader has an attitude of service.

2. A slave obeys. If Jesus is my master, I want to obey him always. I don’t want to lose my purpose like Saul because of rebellion and disobedience.

3. A slave follows orders or instructions. does not do what he wants, but what the master asks.

4. A salve does not have their own life. In Crist I die to myself but, in reality I am more alive than ever, and I enjoy my life much more doing the will of God.

It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me… (Gal. 2:20 NLT)

The salve does not have his own will, but the will of his master.

My greatest desire is to do the will of God.
(Psalm 40:8)

5. The slave does not have rights. I have given up my rights for Jesus Christ’s, but I have not lost anything, on the contrary I have gained everything. Surrendering my rights has authorized me to also be a participant of all that Jesus has. I have all his benefits; I am coheir of all that my master (God) has.

Think:

Are you a slave of the Lord or a leader?
Which of the five characteristics do you need to apply?
Are you doing the will of God or your will?
