WHAT PART IS NOT CLEAR?
“My name will be honored forever in this temple.”
What part of this phrase was not clear to Manasseh?
Manasseh put an image of the goddess Asherah in the temple of God.
He gave her the place that belonged to God.
He worshiped her and made the people worship something that was not God.
Who had we been enthroning in our hearts?
Our heart represents the sacred place that is special for God.
For many people, the closest thing to their hearts is money, sex, fame, fun, body image, etc.
But Jesus said:
Manasseh even made a carved image of Asherah and set it up in the Temple, the very place where the Lord had told David and his son Solomon: “My name will be honored forever in this Temple… (2 Kings 21:7 NLT)
Think about it:
What had you put in your heart in place of God?
Who have you enthroned in place of God?
What part of that phrase have you not understood?
