What more could I have done?

WHAT MORE COULD I HAVE DONE?

What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes? (Isaiah 5:4 NLT)

Don’t feel responsible for those who don’t want to have success.

Have you ever been disappointed and asked yourself something like this: What else could I have done for this “hard headed” person?

There are many people whom Dinora and I have tried to help. Some have taken advantage of our help, but others did not.

There are thousands of people to whom we have given the same resources, time, money, prayer, discipleship, opportunities, but not all have valued it.

Some have grown and have a certain level of success in their marriage, finances, studies, and ministries, but others have returned to their lives of failure, adultery, addiction, and mediocrity.

Parents will sometimes have some wise children, but others will be stubborn and rebellious.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, “What have I done wrong? What else could I have done?”
We can’t feel responsible for those who don’t want to be wise and have success.
Even God had the same experience with His people when He asked Himself this:

What more could I have done for my vineyard that I have not already done? When I expected sweet grapes, why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes? (Isaiah 5:4 NLT)

Lord, help me to rest in you, remembering that I am not God, that we simply sow and water the seeds, but that it is you, oh God, who brings growth.

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.  It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.  (1 Cor. 3:6-7 NLT)

Think about it:

Had you felt guilty for someone who did not want to change?
Up to what point do you think is your responsibility to do something for someone?
What people have valued the time you have invested in them?
