Good and bad figs

GOOD AND BAD FIGS

I saw two baskets of figs placed in front of the Lord’s Temple in Jerusalem. 2 One basket was filled with fresh, ripe figs, while the other was filled with bad figs that were too rotten to eat. (Jeremiah 24:1-2 NLT)

These figs make me think we are going to find two types of groups in the world: good leaders and bad leaders; people who seek God and people who reject God.

1.- The basket with figs speaks to me of those who decide to turn their heart back to God.

I will give them hearts that recognize me as the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.(Jeremiah 24:7 NLT)

2.- The basket with bad figs tells me about another group of people, who turn their back on God. This group has a sad future by rejecting God.

I will make them an object of horror and a symbol of evil to every nation on earth….. They will be disgraced and mocked, taunted and cursed, wherever I scatter them. And I will send war, famine, and disease … (Jeremiah 24:9-10 NLT)

I choose to be one of the good figs.
