Faced by those who don’t understand miracles

FACED BY THOSE WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND MIRACLES

While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were confronted by the priests, the captain of the Temple guard, and some of the Sadducees.  These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a resurrection of the dead. (Acts 4:1-2 NLT)

This group of priests, Sadducees and the captain of the guard, represent the people who today think it is their job to “take care” (control) Christian congregations.
They try to take care of the doctrine, the biblical foundations to prevent Christianity from being lost. That is fine, I think we need teachers, apologetics, etc., but they should be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The problem is, they often go to the extreme and extinguish the Spirit. They run out of knowledge, they have the words without life, they only have the logos that is never armed; only the word, but there is no demonstration of God’s power.

The Priests and Sadducees make me think of “religion.” “Religious” people since the time of the Gospels have always been an obstacle to the power of the Holy Spirit.
The world does not need religion, but a relationship with Christ.
Religion always becomes obsolete, the movement of the Holy Spirit is dynamic, changes and keeps the church alive, fervent, relevant and shocking.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
(1 Corinthians 2:4-5 NIV)

Think about it:
Do you have a religion or a relationship with Christ?
Do you have only the knowledge of the Word or also the power of the Holy Ghost?
Have you become obsolete or remained relevant in your spiritual life?
