What Makes Me Think He Can Deliver – I

What Makes Me Think He Can Deliver – I

“Who among all the gods of these lands have delivered their countries from my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”  Isaiah 36:20 (NKJV)

Sometimes life confronts us with challenges so great that doubts begin to creep in. We wonder why we trust in God when the world seems full of conflicts, economic crises, and difficult situations. Why do we maintain our peace in the midst of it all? The answer lies in remembering what God has done and trusting in what He continues to do.

  1. Remembering our past:
One of the reasons I trust God is because He has already delivered me in the past. He protected me as a child and helped me overcome moments that could have been fatal. In Jeremiah 1:5, God reminds us that He knew us before we were born and sets us apart for a purpose. He has kept me from accidents, illnesses, abuses, and addictions. My life has been in His hands from the beginning.
“My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, “The days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Psalm 139:15-16 NKJV)
  2. Observing our present:
Not only has He been faithful in the past, but He continues to bless me in the present. Over the years, we have faced crises like the 2008 recession or the Covid-19 pandemic, and in each one, God has provided. We have never lacked food, clothing, shelter, or health. Moreover, we have had enough to share and bless others. These present blessings are proof that God continues to deliver and care for us, even in difficult times.

Think about it:

  1. What memories do you have of moments when God delivered you in the past?
  2. How do you see God’s hand blessing you in your present, despite the challenges you face?
  3. What steps can you take today to maintain your confidence that God will continue to deliver you in the future?
