It is a privilege to serve

IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO SERVE

… but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister… 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26-28 KJV

I accepted Jesus in my life in 1999. I was young, younger than I am today, and together with the youth group I would go evangelize the streets through a program called, “Castillos del Rey”. We would dress up as clowns and use puppets to entertain our community in order to lead them to accept Jesus Christ. We had a passion for God and we fervently believed that we had been called to expand His Kingdom. Till this day, my passion for Him only grows more and more.

Also, I use to have a house of peace, where many people received Christ in their hearts. Ever since I was saved, I have not stopped serving, because to me serving the Lord is a privilege.

In order for you to serve God with everything you are and to realize that it is a privilege to serve, you need to understand two very important points.

1. You must serve with the right motivations.

Your intentions in serving God should be because you have a grateful heart, because you want to represent Him well on earth, because you love Him, and because you love His people.

Don’t ever serve God because you’re looking for a position in your church, nor because of any other selfish motive. Serve the Lord, because you believe you were called to serve Him by serving others.

2. You should serve expecting God’s promotion and not man’s promotion.

God loves to reward us, and He also made us individuals who like getting rewarded. This is why, He already decided how far He will take us in His Kingdom, and the humbler we are the further He will take us.

But I have no right to say who will sit on my right or my left. God has prepared those places for the ones he has chosen. Mark 10:40 NLT

Your service and everything you do at work, school or for your family should be for God and not to please men or seek their approval. God has already approved you and He has good plans for your life. Serve with passion, because you’re doing it for Him, and that’s what makes serving a privilege.

Think about it:

Why do you serve the Lord?
How much passion do you really have for God?
