KEY FACTORS THAT HELP YOUR CONSCIENCE

Because of this, I always try to maintain a clear conscience before God and all people. Acts 24:16 NLT

Paul talks about several factors in regards to having a clear conscience. It is very crucial and important that you learn how to maintain a pure conscience. There are many people who want to serve the Lord in the supernatural, but the lack of holiness in their conscience doesn’t give them the moral authority to serve Him.
These are the following steps that will help you keep a conscience free of guilt, lack of integrity, and sin.

1. The conscience requires constant attention.
The phrase, “Because of this, I always…” refers to being a person with integrity all the days of your life, not only when you go to church on Sundays, but also when you’re at work, home and wherever you go.

2. The conscience demands intentional work.
The words, “I always try to maintain a clear conscience…” mean that sustaining a pure conscience is not something automatic or simple. Integrity requires deliberate work. It means that you must examine your actions on a regular basis, and immediately correct the words or actions you know are wrong before the Lord and people.

3. The conscience should be supported by God.
“… a clear conscience before God…” in other words, you take the time to pray to the Lord. Reflect upon your day and be honest with yourself, search your heart and see if there is anything inside that is hurting or contaminated, and if there is, give it to God. You cannot be holy like the Heavenly Father if you do not depend completely on Him. In order for you to be holy, you have to spend time with the One that is holy.

4. The conscience needs to be supported by people.
“… a clear conscience before God and all people.”
It will be very beneficial for you to be part of a church or a small group like a House of Peace. This is where you grow together with other people who also want to grow in integrity and that want to maintain a clear conscience. This is where you can volunteer to be accountable to someone that is trustworthy, where you can confess your struggles with individuals who will not judge you, and where everyone supports each other by praying for one another.

Think about it:

How can you keep a clean conscience this week?
What has been weighing down your conscience that you need to surrender to God?
